Manchester airport new checkin

Sunday 18 May 2008 1:04 PM

Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport has undergone a change which will affect passengers flying from the airport.

Last week a new security area was installed which contains a wealth of state of the art equipment.

New X-Ray machines, vapour testing facilities and extra security lanes and even more staff are just one part of the £35 million improvements that passengers will be able to experience over the new few years.

Manchester Airport's managing director said that passengers ultimately want hastle free security screening - something that is hard to experience since security measures and delays have increased dramatically since terrorism threats several years ago.

Passengers flying with Air Berlin, Lufthansa, Swiss, Aer Arann are able to use the new security facilities from 28th May.

Passengers will also realise when checking-in that unlike all other UK airports, there are are a very limited nmber of shops before security - resulting in screening procedures for liquids (remember, 100ml maximum sized containers for any liquids) being much easier as passengers haven't had a chance to buy any liquids at that point.
