Stansted to Blackpool route axed by Ryanair

Sunday 13 May 2007 8:45 PM
Blackpool's only flights to London will stop from June 3rd 2007 when Ryanair axe their twice daily flight from Blackpool to Stansted.

The decision comes shortly after fellow cheap-flight airline Jet2 announced it would be stopping its Blackpool to Prague and Blackpool to Amsterdam service.

The Blackpool to London Stansted route has been described as popular with the airport claiming that approximately 500,000 people have flown on the route in four years since May 2003.

Blackpool Airport are hopeful that another operator will be able to step-in to offer the London service - helping to serve both leisure and business travellers.
