Starting from now until initially the end of October 2007, cheap flight airline Flyeglobespan have a 7 times a week flight from Glasgow Airport to Boston, USA.

Traditionally, the transatlantic routes have been operated by big airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and their equivalent US competitors.

Cheap flight airlines have recently started to offer low cost flights to America. Flyglobespan is offering return tickets starting at £360 including taxes.

The 7 hour flight from Glasgow will operate each day until the end of October 2007 when the airline will decide whether to continue and make it an all-year round service.

Although there are numerous benefits for Scottish travellers being able to travel cheaply to the USA (especially with the favourable exchange rate of approximately $2 US dollars to £1 pound sterling), its hoped that the route will be popular with American's wanting to travel to visit Scotland.

Flyglobespan chairman, Tom Dalrymple said [Quote] "Not only is Boston and its surrounding area a fantastic gateway to New England and North America with a huge range of onward flights".

Glasgow Airport managing director said that the new route was not just important for Glasgow, but for the whole of Scotland.
