Whale watching to make a comeback in Iceland

Icelandic airline Icelandair has suggested that people planning to visit Iceland this spring should take advantage of the whale-watching trips on offer.

The new tourist season also marks a time with more daylight hours – 14 hours in April and 17 hours in May – because of its position within the Arctic Circle.

As a result, holidaymakers to Iceland will be able to take their time seeing the country's famous natural formations such as black-sand beaches, geysers, glaciers, lava fields, and waterfalls.

Whale-watchers who take the trips from Reykjavik will also be lucky enough to have the opportunity to see a whole host of visiting sea birds, including the ‘sea parrot’ puffin.

Icelandair operates direct flights Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport to Reykjavik.

The airline also offers connections from its Reykjavik base to destinations in the US, including Orlando, Boston and New York.
