Wizzair provides alternatives for discontinued centralwings flights

A recent announcement by Centralwings stated that the airline will discontinued (at short notice) eight of its flights to Poland.In response to this, budget airline Wizz Air have offered to provide alternative flights for affected centralwings passengers. The cancelled routes by Centralwings are: - from Manchester To Gdansk and Warsaw- where Wizzair are offering alternative flights from Liverpool to these Polish cities from £22.99 one way. - from Birmingham to Krakow - where Wizzair are offering Coventry to Katowice flights from £22.99 one way. - from Glasgow to Poznan - where Wizzair are offering alternative flights from Edinburgh to Poznan from just £14.99 one way. - from Shannon in Ireland to Gdansk, Wizzair alternative flight is from Cork to Gdansk - from Cork to Katowice, Wizzair alternative flight to Cork to Krakow Hungarian based Wizzair is the largest budget airline in Poland with over 1/3rd market share and operates Airbus A320 aircraft on its routes - with 14 new routes starting in the first 6 months of this year. Wizzair operates from seven bases in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania with base 8 opening at Cluj in May. Similar to many budget airlines, Wizzair have a simple business model that includes ticketless travel, "sit anywhere" and uses smaller, cheaper airports. Centralwings announced a PLZ 73 million loss compared to an expected PLZ 35 million in 2007. Waldemar Królikowski, president of centralwings said [quote] "Stronger companies push out weaker ones, initially from the best routes and then from the market as a whole. This could also be the fate of Centralwings".
