Wednesday 26 March 2008 11:35 PM
UK's British Airways is continuing its expansion of flights from Gatwick Airport this year despite moving operations at Heathrow to the long-awaited Terminal 5.

New summer routes to the mediterranean include from Gatwick to Alicante, Paphos, Palma, Malta, Ibiza, Gibraltar, Faro, Malaga, Poznan, Antalya and Tunis.

The majority of these new flights starts at the end of March, although some will commence at the start of the summer.

London City Airport also sees expansion with new daily flights to Amsterdam, Nice, Warsaw and Barcelona.

Robert Boyle from British Airways said [quote] "As one of the only short-haul, full-service carriers at Gatwick, we combine low fares with complimentary food and drink, pre-allocated seats and the opportunity to join the British Airways Executive Club".

British Airways recently announced that they have the service and maintenance contract for Singapore Airline's new Airbus A380 superjumbo when it lands at Heathrow Airport.

BA also have their own Airbus A380 planes on order - to be delivered in time for the 2012 olympics in London.
