In addition to extending the security search area, more than 200 extra security officers have been recruited, and by the summer that number will have increased further." Flying Abroad advises that travellers follow the security guidelines for all UK airports and: - only take one piece of hand luggage that is no bigger than 55cm x 20cm x 40cm. - do not take any liquids more than 100ml in size, and they should be in a clear plastic bag. - to allow plenty of time to travel to the airport, plus additional time to clear security BAA, owner of Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Southampton and Aberdeen airports recently announced plans of a £40+ million investment to improve security procedures at airports to ease congestion. Over 1,400 extra security staff will be recruited and more than 22 security lanes will be opened across its airports. In an optimistic promise, BAA said that 95 percent of passengers will not face a delay of more than 5 minutes in going through airport security at Heathrow Airport. Flying Abroad advise passengers, where they can, to check in any hold luggage the day before and this will help to cut your queuing time at airports.
