easyJet halves flights to Dortmund over the winter

Tuesday 17 June 2008 8:03 AM

UK's easyJet airline is to cut 50% of all flights to Dortmund in Germany as part of its winter schedule and is also looking to the feasability into continuing operations from the airport in the future.

Dortmund has the most restrictive operating hours which hampers the utilisation of both aircrew and aircraft - both of these are factors that make it difficult to support a budget airline's operation.

easyJet have three aircraft based at Dortmund.

Ryanair were quick to comment on easyJet's press release and have announced a sale of 100,000 tickets for just 10 Euro for flights to neighbouring Dusseldorf-weeze airport - which is actually 80km from Dusseldorf itself.

Ryanairs 22 routes which fly to Dusseldorf-Weeze airport are included under the 100,000 ticket sale and can be purchased immediately from the Ryanair website.
