Southampton Airport gets 3 million pound refit
Tuesday 17 June 2008 9:03 AM
Check-in at Southampton Airport is now much better thanks to a £3 million refit with brand new facilities. New check-in desks and self service checkin kiosks make the check-in process faster and more pleasant for passengers. Two new self-service check-in desks allow passengers to check-in from the short-stay car-park without even having to enter the terminal building. Additional new facilities include a major upgrade to the baggage handling system allowing it to handle significantly more bags. Dave Lees from the airport said [quote] "The installation of 13 new check-in facilities will benefit the time-conscious passenger by providing additional choice for check-in". For passengers, improving the check-in area at any airport is expected to have a warm welcome as airports embrace better facilties in all areas as the demand for flights continues to grow. Internet check-in helps passengers to avoid having to queue, but those people travelling with hold luggage are more likely to check-in at the airport.
