Advance Passenger Information can be done online if you fly to Spain with Easyjet

Saturday 16 June 2007 10:41 AM
API (or Advance Passenger Information if you use the full name) is an European directive for Airlines to capture passengers details prior to their travel.

More specifically, the directive covers flights from non-Schengen countries to Spain. These countries being: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.

Details such as Name, sex, date of birth, nationality and passport number will be captured - for all passengers travelling to Spain from UK, Morocco or Switzerland - including Spanish passport holders. The directive does not affect domestic flights within Spain.

As an early adopter of technology, Easyjet has adapted their website to gather this information in advance for any new online bookings after Monday 11th June 2007.
