clickair starts London to Vigo in Spain route

Saturday 5 July 2008 2:02 PM

Despite many cities in Spain being saturated by cheap flight airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet, the new Clickair route from London's Gatwick Airport to Vigo in Spain's South Galiacia city of Vigo is a first as its the first time that there has been direct flights to there from the UK.

The Spanish area is an increasingly popular destination for tourists with the area having a long history and culture that goes back to before the Roman conquest.

The new service will run three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Vigo's Peinador Airport handles over 1.5 million passengers a year and there has been significant recent investment in the airport in rediness for the new service to start.

Vigo is a natural harbor and sits close to the bay of biscay and is a popular stop-off point for boats travelling to and from North Africa. Being affected by the Gulf stream, the area is hot in the summer and mild in the winter. It also has many beautiful beaches and is very cosmopolitan.

Clickair also flies to Seville and Bilbao from London's Gatwick airport but also flies to Valencia and La Coruna from London Heathrow and also from Edinburgh to Barcelona.
