Emirates received its first A380 superjumbo

Monday 28 July 2008 10:31 AM

Its the first of 58 x A380 superjumbos that Emirates has ordered, but the first one has finally arrived.

Emirates, based in Dubai, also has on order 30 x A330 aircraft and 30 x A350s in the coming few years.

The new A380 will complete its fitting and preparation for its maiden flight on 1st August from Dubai to New York.

Flying three times a week to start with, it will be the first time that the A380 will fly commercially to the USA.  The existing routes flown by Singapore Airlines (who already have a couple of A380s) fly between London and Singapore and Singapore to Sydney.

The A380 is a superjumbo able to carry over 400 passengers over two floors in high comfort.  First class cabins have beds and all classes through to economy have bigger than normal seats and highly aclaimed in-seat entertainment.

The Airbus A380 is also more environmentally friendly than similar competitor aircraft with increased fuel efficiency and able to carry more passengers with less damage to the environment.
