Officials at Glasgow Airport have issued a information alert to passengers travelling from the airport.

Passengers are advised NOT to come to the airport unless they have received confirmation from their airline that their flight is still departing.

Numerous flights have been cancelled, or transfered to other airports.

Anyone who is unsure about the status of their flight should not travel.

Family, friends or relatives are asked NOT to travel to the airport unless absolutely necessary.

BAA who own Glasgow, Heathrow, Gatwick and several other airports announced that drop-off areas close to the airports have been closed until further notice.
