Wednesday 7 January 2009 6:31 AM

Budget British airline bmibaby has announced that it will begin operating a service from East Midlands Airport to Menorca in summer 2009.

Bmibaby’s new flights between East Midlands Airport and Menorca will commence on May 22nd and will continue until October 24th.

Flights will operate three times weekly, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, according to the needs of holidaymakers wishing to fly to the popular Spanish resort.

Bmibaby confirms that airfares will start at £41.99 one way, including all taxes and charges.

Bmibaby's other Spanish destinations include Alicante, Almeria and Malaga.

The budget airline has become the subject of a potential takeover by Flybe, another low-cost operator, having recently been purchased by German airline Lufthansa, which acquired a majority stake in bmibaby’s parent company, British Midland Airways.
