Aberdeen to Gatwick London three times a day
Tuesday 15 January 2008 6:22 AM
Late last year, British Airways scrapped flights between London's Gatwick Airport and Aberdeen.Flybe announced yesterday that from March 2008 , they will be operating the Aberdeen to London Gatwick route three times a day. There will also be a business friendly schedule which is expected to greatly benefit the Aberdeen economy. Ticket prices from the launch on 30th March start from just £24.99 for one-way including taxes and charges. Mike Rutter from Flybe said [quote] "London Gatwick to Aberdeen service is of great strategic importance to Aberdeen and we’re delighted to be able to fill the gap and take over this abandoned route from British Airways." Aberdeen is the oil capital of Europe and the new route is seen to be very important for the UK's oil and gas industry. Regular and dependable flights between the north of Scotland and London has long been missing and is something that Aberdeen clearly needs. The announcement comes after Flybe also recently announced new routes from Jersey - including to Cardiff. Tickets are available to be bought immediately from the FlyBe website - although the earliest time you can travel is when the service started in March 2008.
