Mobile boarding pass service launched at Bristol Airport

Friday 13 February 2009 4:19 PM

German airline Lufthansa has launched a mobile boarding pass service for its flights from Bristol Airport.

The facility will be available to use for all passengers on direct Lufthansa flights from Bristol Airport to Frankfurt, as well as to most onward European destinations.

Under the new scheme, passengers who have internet-enabled mobile phones will be able to have their boarding passes sent directly to their phone by email or text message. Their mobile boarding pass will include all relevant information, including the customer's name, flight number and departure time.

Customers will be able to move through airport security checkpoints and board the aircraft without needing a paper document because their boarding pass will include a scannable barcode.

Lufthansa customers who do not have an internet-enabled phone, and those travelling to destinations not covered by the mobile boarding pass scheme can still check in at home via the internet, using the Lufthansa 'home print' boarding card option.

Lufthansa has already successfully launched its mobile boarding pass facility on about 1,000 daily flights from airports to almost 400 European destinations.

The airline’s mobile boarding pass technology will be rolled-out to cover more European departure points in the next few months.
