Wizzair doubles cost of checking in luggage

Thursday 21 February 2008 10:23 PM
Wizzair or "Wizz Air" to use its correct spelling has increased its fees for passengers wanting to check-in baggage.

From 1st February, the cost of checking in each item of baggage will double with the cost being 6 Euros if you book in advance or 12 Euros if you check-in at the airport.

The announcement comes shortly after rival cheap-flight/budget airline Ryanair announced similar price hikes for passengers wanting to check-in luggage.

Low-cost airlines are looking to try and have passengers not carrying baggage that gets put into the hold and check-in electronically over the internet as it allows them to reduce check-in staff, less baggage handlers etc.
