Ryanair invests in new base at Reus in Spain

Cheap flight airline Ryanair opens its 26th European base at Reus in Spain - which is close to Barcelona.

The new base is also the fifth base that the airline has in Spain and it plans to invest $140 million in two new aircraft to operate from the new base. These two aircraft will fly 12 routes across Europe.

The routes from the airport include destinations across Europe including Birmingham, Dublin, Glasgow, Paris, Palma, Santiago, Seville, Liverpool, London Luton, London Stansted.

Ryanair's Chief Executive said [quote] "“Ryanair will now develop the region's massive untapped potential by giving the tourism industry year round low fare access to Europe's largest cities".

Ryanair is expected to carry over 1 million passengers to and from Reus over the new year - and tourism is expected to bring an extra Euro 150 million to the region.
