Monarch reaches its millionth passenger on the Gatwick to Malaga route

Budget airline Monarch has flown its 1 millionth passenger between London Gatwick and Malaga in Spain.

Hazel MacArthur was the lucky passenger and received a free pair of tickets - which will come in useful as the use the London to Malaga route several times a year.

The Monarch route opened in May 2003 and demand continues to grow with 38 flights a week in operation between the two cities. Over 76,000 passengers have already bought tickets for this year.

Monarch is a budget/cheap flight airline which provides flights to destinations from Orlando in the United States to numerous European destinations including Barcelona, Larnaca in Cyrpus, Alicante, Faro and Lanzarote.

Monarch flies from various UK airports including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool and Manchester
