Tuesday 5 February 2008 8:38 AM
German airlines germanwings, eurowings and TUIfly are in talks that could result in a potential merger.

The three airlines have a combined fleet of almost 110 aircraft and over 180 destinations.

eurowings is the budget carrier of Germanwings and has 27 aircraft flying across 60 destinations in europe. TUIfly is a spin-off from Hapafly and has 48 planes flying to over 80 destinations.

If the deal does get regulatory approval, it would shake-up the German market and the new airline would be able to more easily take on the likes of cheap flight airlines easyJet and Ryanair.

Its expected that considerable cost savings can be made by having one new organisation
