BAA luggage system fails at Heathrow Airport

Thursday 21 February 2008 10:28 PM
Passengers travelling through Heathrow's Terminal 4 on the 20th February would have encountered problems with their luggage.

A software upgrade on the baggage system caused problems and affected the entire baggage system at the terminal.

The upgrade was done overnight, and dispute trying to fix the problem, contingency plans had to be put into place.

Passengers at the time were advised to check with their airlines before checking-in - although many travellers were unaware that there was a problem until getting to the airport.

Several flights were cancelled and staff were working hard to minimise any disruption.

The problems happened after a study reported that British Airways was the worst offender of baggage delays across the whole of Europe.
