Airbus forecast 24 000 more planes in sky by 2026

He said [quote] "Air transportation is definitely a growing industry contributing to economic development and generating wealth around the world".

Airbus estimate that by 2026, passenger demand for flights will require more than 24,000 planes to be built to cope.

Passengers, airlines and evironmental organisations are demanding more fuel efficient planes that are better for the environment, and older planes will be gradually phased out.

Each year between now and 2026, its estimated that over 1,200 planes will come into service each year - some to replace older planes but a large proportion will be completely new aircraft. Many airlines have placed large orders for planes - a sign that they will be providing more destinations for passengers.

Airbus is the manufacturer of the Airbus A380 superjumbo - the largest passenger aircraft in the world with two full decks of passenger seats. Singapore Airlines was the airline to take delivery of the first A380 and currently flies the Singapore to Sydney route with this new aircraft.
