Teleticket fills XL gap at Bristol Airport

Tuesday 9 December 2008 8:33 AM

A new deal between Bristol Airport and Teleticket has made use of the gaps left at the airport in the wake of the collapse of tour operator XL earlier this year.

Teleticket, a flight-only specialist, will offer passengers from Bristol airport flights to a range of popular European destinations, such as Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Paphos.

Bristol Airport has been operating 90 fewer monthly flights since XL's collapse in September as a result of the economic downturn.

Bristol Airport’s head of sales Jason Wescott said: "It has been frustrating to hear from travel agents that customers want to fly from Bristol International when booking their holidays but can't because of a lack of availability.

"Teleticket has recognised the opportunity by creating a 2009 programme which meets demand for flights to some of the most popular destinations"

According to the UK’s largest airport operator, BAA, passenger numbers at the UK's busiest airports are also declining because of the effects of the credit crunch.
