Budget airline Flybe has announced a number of new destinations for its summer 2009 schedule, the with additional flights to be launched from regional airports including Birmingham Airport, Exeter Airport and Southampton Airport.

Routes to France will be among those launched next summer, with new services from Birmingham Airport to the cities of Toulouse and La Rochelle, from Exeter Airport to Nice, and from Southampton Airport to Perpignan.

Flybe will also continue to operate current flights to popular holiday destinations such as the Spanish resorts of Alicante and Malaga.

Flybe's plans for regional expansion across the UK will see the airline’s network grow to a total of 181 routes during its Summer 2009 season (from March 29th and October 24th). Some 28 of these routes will be operated by Flybe’s franchise partner Loganair.

Flybe's chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: "Our summer schedule shows us continuing to strengthen our operations across the UK and Europe with many of our summer routes from the 2007-08 schedule returning from March next year as well as increased frequency on many of our services from key bases."

Mr Rutter added: "Over the last 12 months we have continued to grow and develop Flybe to provide the most cost-effective, efficient and flexible service for business and leisure passengers."

Flybe claims to be the UK’s largest regional point-to-point airline, serving more domestic routes than any other airline.
