Ryanair contemplating flying to Tel Aviv

Negotiations started earlier in December and will take time to be worked out with signing expected in later 2008 or later.

If/when the agreement is signed, Ryanair are looking to fly to Israel from several countries in Europe including Sweden, Norway, Germany and Italy. Other countries such as the UK and Spain also have airports likely to want to fly to Israel.

The expected cost of flights could be as low as 60 Euros one way depending on demand. Initial interest in the route has been high and welcomed by the Israeli tourist board with the Israeli Minister for Tourism having said that low-cost airlines flying to the country would greatly boost the number of tourists to the country and encourage other airlines to fly there too.

British Airways have also added Israel to their top 20 list of destinations amid improvements in safety in the region.
