With destinations such as Dubai becoming increasingly popular, its neighbour Oman is also enjoying increased demand from travellers wanting to fly to there.

Flying from London Gatwick Airport, the daily, non-stop flights to Muscat in Oman is the 24th destination for the Gulf airline. British Airways and Gulf Air already operate this route.

Muscat is the city with immense history and is also the home to the third biggest mosque in the world.

Popular tourist attractions in Muscat include the Al Jalali and Al Mirani Forts, Qasr Al Alam Palace and the Mutrah Souk.

A spokesperson for the Oman Tourist Board said [quote] "A national carrier flying into the UK will increase consumer awareness of the destination and add to the variety of routes on offer via our neighbour states."

Muscat also acts as an important regional hub with onward flights available to Mumbai/Bombay, New Delhi and Karachi.
