Delta Airlines withdraws plans for Edinburgh to Atlanta flights

Tuesday 1 April 2008 9:56 AM
Citing the rising costs of fuel, Delta Airlines have put on hold indefinately plans to operate a non-stop Atlanta to Edinburgh service from June this year.

The service was due to run from June to October with three-times a week flights in June and October and then daily in July, August and September over the peak summer travel time.

Although the Edinburgh to Atlanta service is on hold, the airline's plans for Edinburgh to New York service is still going to go-ahead this summer.

A spokesman from Delta said that to help combat the spiralling fuel costs, the airline is looking to improve fuel efficiency across all its aircraft.

The spokesman also said "Scotland remains an important market in Delta's effort to boost international service, including plans to grow international capacity by double digits in 2008".
