Robin Hood Doncaster Airport in UK
Located close to Doncaster & Sheffield, UK, Robin Hood International Airport is the UK's newest purpose built airport - which only started as a commercial airport in APril 2005. It boasts one of the longest runways in the North of England, allowing some of the larger planes to take off for transatlantic journeys.THe name "Robin Hood" was used to make a greater use of the famous character of the same name to promote the surrounding area to international travellers - in the same way as Liverpool John Lennon Airport, John F Kennedy Airport in USA etc. Many locals still call it "Doncaster Airport". Parking is ample at the airport with some short term parking (if you only need to stay an hour or so), and long term parking available for a reasonable cost. A regular shuttle connects the long term parking with the main terminal. Facilities at the airport are good and geared up to disabled travellers. Restaurants, shops, toilets etc are all adequate and pleasant for the short time you need to wait before boarding your flight.
