London City Airport in UK
London City Airport is the only airport actually in London (Stanstead, Luton, Heathrow & Gatwick are all on the outskits of the city). Flying into London City Airport is an experience with the runway being only 1500 metres long - not suitable for big planes. The airport opened in 1987 and is prodominently used by business travellers wanting quick access to or from central London or the Canary Wharf business district. The relatively smallness of the airport means that check-in is very quick - and you don't need to arrive anywhere near to 2 hours before hand as some other airports require you to. Once you've landed at the airport, its quite common for a traveller to be standing outside the airport flagging down a taxi within 10 minutes of the plane's wheels touching the tarmac! This low-hastle approach has made the airport a great hit for business travellers - who can fly to over 25 european destinations. There are no direct long-haul flights from London City Airport due to the short runway.
