Mini-Guide To Malaga


A popular destination for many tourists staying or travelling to Costa del Sol in Spain, Malaga is in fact an important Spanish city with lots to offer and has a real cultural heritage.

Once home to Pablo Picasso, the city has a Picasso Museum - housing over 200 works by the artist. The city has smart squares, clean boulevards, several 5-star hotels and an overall extremely pleasant city to visit.

Local Airports In Malaga

Nearly everything within Malaga is within the same area, so travelling around on foot is the easiest way to see the city. If you do need to use the local bus service, or taxis, both are cheap and efficient.

Eating out is always a delight in sunny climates and Malaga is no exception. Sea-food is a big local favourite and resaturants and tapas bars offer a wide range of cuisines.

Nightlife is lively with numerous beachfront discos in the El Palo area. Saturday nights and weekends are the busiest. In the Malagueta area of the city, there are a good and varied choice of discos

The Castillo Gibralfaro and 16th century cathederal are places that you should definately put on your list if visiting the city. The Alcazaba is a former palace and fortress and restored in the early 1900's, it has terraced gardens and fortified walls.

The old-quarter of the city is pedestrialised and has many tapas bars and restaurants. Tea houses are frequented by locals and whilst walking around this old part of the city there is an excellent covered market which is well worth a visit.

Average temperatures in Malaga in the height of summer are around 25C and down to 13C in December. Rain is rare with most of the rainfall falling between November and March. Apart from thunderstorms, its rare to get rain in the summer time.

Several carriers offer cheap flights to Malaga form the UK including bmibaby, Flybe, Jet2 and Thomsonfly. However, it you plan to travel in peak season, the large volume of people travelling to this part of Spain can push up prices - so book your cheap flights early!
